Why You Need a Personal Brand

Branding is hard as it is, but when it gets personal, it can be quite a mess. These are my collection of notes while developing a self identity, summarized. This is something which resonates my outlook towards design and visual identity and why I think every designer should work towards one.

Self-expression.

A brand to express your thoughts and feelings. This brand will be the start of how you present yourself in the ever-massive world on the ever-expanding internet.

Experimentation.

Do not take it too seriously, unless you want to. Use this opportunity for experimentation, development and self-actualization. You can do anything you want, at the start at least. Try out things. Don't be afraid.

Adaptability.

When building your self-identity, it starts with the logo. For a logo, being recallable is one of the most important parts. But there is another direction you can take, adaptability. A logo can also be adaptable, evolve alongside you. Be expressive.

Consistency.

It will make you consistent, whether it is a personal website, product, service or all of it. Having a brand will make you more accountable and consistent, which is the key to being successful with your goals.

Don't think too hard, start first.
